5 Barrel ‘Little Nipper’ Hazy IPA

Rating:

No Commercial Description.

Glassware: IPA.

Appearance: Hazy light amber with a faint orange tint. It forms a thumb of off white head which holds its shape fairly well. Nice wavy lace clings to the glass as we imbibe.

Aroma: Wow the tropical fruits really lift out of the glass. That’s gotta be Mosaic hops…the sweet tropical nature of it is offering oodles of mango, pineapple, orange, peach, melon, paw paw and guava. Quite resinous and piney too. Definitely picking up the dry and kinda creamy oats and almost tart wheat grains as well. Very promising!

Flavour: Very similar to the nose – it kicks off with an encapsulating mix of tropical fruits; mango, peach, passion fruit, orange/rind, pineapple and mixed stone fruits. Loving the light and creamy addition of oats…we can almost taste the proteins and starch they provide. Quite dry and pithy through the mid, leading in to a mildly bitter finish with acetic rind and pine on the outer.

Mouthfeel: Nice and full yet it still has a creamy and aerated texture to it. Finely carbonated. Only 5.8% ABV but we dig it…not too big but not too little either.

Overall: Another decent beer from Five Barrel. From memory we’ve never had a bad beer from Phil & Co. We’ll call him Mr Consistency! That’s a fine offering.
