“Smoglifter label is submitted. The final version is a imperial chocolate milk stout checking in at 10%abv. Look for a seasonal version next year made with white Russian flavored cold pressed coffee called Abide.”
Cool artwork on the label, as it’s very similar to the artwork Clown Shoes uses it prompted us to do a little research. We found that Brash beer originally gypsy brewed out of the same tanks as Clown shoes at Mercury brewing co.in Massachusetts. So the 2 head brewers must use the same artist for their labels. Served into a snifter glass the appearance displays an opaque black with a fizzy 2 cm brown cap that dissipates slowly, finally settling to a thin covering on top. Standard lacing. The aroma is chocolate driven backed up by robust helpings of espresso coffee, roasted malts, alcohol, leather, treacle and vanilla. Subtle additions of smoke and ash add an extra earthiness to the aroma. In the mouth there is mild carbonation with medium bitterness and a creamy texture. Upfront rich and decadent roasted notes of espresso, chocolate and cocoa fill the mouth. A more delicate mid-palate consisting of light milky lactose, vanilla and chocolate pave the way for a gorgeous bitter finish. Espresso, chocolate and burnt caramel sit on the back palate beautifully with good length. A big point scorer for brash, this 10% ABV imperial stout ticks plenty of boxes. Brilliant addition to their already immaculate range.
