“This 5.6% trans-atlantic fusion IPA is light golden in colour with tropical fruits and light caramel on the nose. The palate soon becomes assertive and resinous with the New Zealand hops balanced by the biscuit malt. The finish is aggressive and dry with the hops emerging over the warming alcohol. This fresh, full flavour natural beer is our tribute to the classic IPAs of yester-year. The post modern twist is the addition of amazing fruity hops giving an explosion of tropical fruit flavours and a sharp bitter finish”.
Arguably the best beer of this Scottish breweries extensive range. Served in an IPA glass and displaying a slightly hazy amber body with a 1/2 inch white head that collapsed to patchy foam on top. Minimal lacing. Quite a bit of floating sediment gives the body it’s hazy appearance. Chinook and Simcoe hops deliver a fruity hop-aromatic nose with bitter hints of grapefruit, musk, pine, mandarin and passion fruit. Soft, buttery undertones of caramel and malt add extra depth and balance. Medium carbonation with a dry mouth feel. Smooth, yet mildly assertive hops on the tongue open up onto a tropical fruity mid-palate with grapefruit and passion fruit dominating over the biscuity Maris Otter pale malts. Long dry finish. 5.6% ABV is spot on, not evident in taste but enough to add depth and body. Very nice IPA, somewhat sessional as well. Expected as much, this is a great brewery.
