Cavalier pale APA

Rating:

image“A Bucket load of Nelson Sauvin hops are added late in the boil to create the Cavalier Pale’s signature flavour. The bold grapefruit and passionfruit flavours from the hops are supported by a firm but not overwhelming malt backbone. Special attention has been paid so that there is no harsh bitterness from the hops, finishing off a refreshing and easy drinking beer.”

Served into a shaker glass. From the pour the appearance displays a hazy amber orange with a frothy 2 inch head that retains well, leaving foamy patches of lacing down the glass. Gorgeous fruity hop-aromatic driven aroma. Lychee, passion fruit, grapefruit and resinous pine are an absolute delight to take in. All these beautifully balanced by a soft hint of caramel malt and a subtle peppery spice. Brilliant aroma. Medium-high carbonation with a frothy, full bodied mouth feel. The palate follows on from the aroma with big fruity flavours. Grapefruit, resinous pine and subtle malt upfront blend into a nice dry, bitter mid-palate. Mild sweetness with a generous bitter citrus finish offers good duration on the tongue. The 5% ABV is modest but spot on for this APA. Simple, yet highly palatable beer from this quality Victorian brewery. Keep it up.
