Dogfish Head ’60 minute’ IPA

Rating:

image“60 Minute IPA is continuously hopped — more than 60 hop additions over a 60-minute boil. (Getting a vibe of where the name came from?) 60 Minute is brewed with a slew of great Northwest hops. A powerful but balanced East Coast IPA with a lot of citrusy hop character, it’s the session beer for hardcore enthusiasts!”

We enjoyed the Foxtel documentary on this world class USA brewery and have wanted to drink this IPA for ages. Pours a hazy golden, which eventually becomes clear, and there is a foamy/bubbly head that lingers leaving a 5-7mm head. Aroma of musk, pine, citrus fruit and grapefruit. What a beautiful flavour though. Very smooth and balanced. There is resin, grapefruit and maybe orange on the palate but the bitterness is subdued. There is almost a sweetness after each swallow from the malt. Mouth feel is moderate but the balance is incredible. There is an alc vol of 6% here and we reckon we could consume a 6 pack of these and not get tired of the bitterness that IPA s deliver. This is a brilliant IPA. We rate very highly based on the brewing process and outcome of flavour.
