Elysian brewing co.’loser’ pale ale

Rating:

image“Celebrating over 25 years of celebrating Sub Pop Records, with beer. Specifically, this beer: Brewed with Pale, Munich, Crystal and Cara-Hell malts. Bittered with Sorachi Ace and finished with Crystal hops.”

This is our first crack at this American breweries range. Served in a shaker glass the appearance showcases a hazy golden- orange with a quickly diminishing white head. OK lacing. Quite a dominant herbal scent that stands out initially. Pine, grassy hops and passion fruit with honey and a subtle malt sweetness to balance it up. The mouth feel is full and well rounded with medium carbonation. Upfront the palate takes on light fruity notes while a dry, assertive bitterness cuts through. The mid-palate is smoothed out by the caramel malt base while hints of citrus, orange peel and pine blend well with the caramel and malt to produce a well balanced finish. Good length. Decent hoppy bitterness lingers on the back end. Could easily go another one of these. 7% ABV. Nothing overly exciting, just a well brewed, sessional pale ale.
