Fox Friday ‘Sunsets’ West Coast IPA

Glassware: IPA

Appearance: Amber with soft orange hues. It forms two fingers of off white head which slowly reduce to a wispy overlay. Spotty lace clings to the glass as we imbibe.

Aroma: Hints at an amber IPA with its sweet caramelised malt profile and beautifully balanced fruity hops. Certainly getting a lot of honey, caramel and toffee offsetting the sappy, piney and citrusy hops. Cocktail fruits, citrus, some florals and just the slightest hint of syrup. All up a pretty good aroma.

Flavour: Comes on nice and strong with the kinda pithy citrus leading the charge. Those sweet and soothing malts are there in support bringing the honey and caramel to the table. Hits peak bitterness midway and continues to dry out as it finishes bitter and citric with grapefruit and orange peel on the rear.

Mouthfeel: Soft and gelatinous with the bitterness ramping up in the swallow. Finely carbonated and the 6.8% ABV is evident but well behaved.

Overall: This is our 2nd crack at Fox Friday and again we’re pleased but not totally wowed. It’s a decent interpretation of a WC IPA but just not that memorable.
