Bought this beauty from the brewery in the Hunter Valley. Served in a beer tulip the usual mat black pour props up a quickly fading light tan head that settles to a halo around the edge of the glass. Standard lacing. The aroma produces a good balance of chocolate, mocha, caramel, biscuit malt and oats. Nothing aggressive going on, just a smooth, pleasant nose. Quite a creamy mouth feel with mild-moderate carbonation. Decent body. The flavour practically mirrors the aroma with the 4 to the floor chocolate, caramel, roasted malts and subtle coffee. Hints of licorice and mild sweetness linger on the rear palate displaying pretty good length. What gives this stout it’s points is the way the flavours combine to produce a smooth and highly drinkable beer. The 5.2% ABV adds to it’s session ability. We thought this was a super smooth stout. Nice one guys, we hope to see it on tap next time we visit!
