Mudgee brewing co. Pale ale

Rating:

image“Made from malted barley, hops, yeast and clean Mudgee water, Mudgee Pale Ale is light and refreshing. We’ve blended Australian and imported malted barley, with a bit of SAAZ hops late in the boiling process, to provide a floral aroma and a crisp, clean taste.”

Picked up from the brewery, we served this from the bottle into a shaker glass. The translucent golden pour produced a meagre 1/2 finger white cap before collapsing to a lonely patch of bubbles on top. No lacing. The nose is offering light malt-driven aromas. Quite earthy with a very subtle floral undertone. We’re struggling to get anything discernible off this aroma, maybe some doughy notes? we’re not sure. Mouth feel is too thin and watery. Mildly carbonated and seriously lacking body. Any flavour that is picked up runs off the tongue instantly. What we manage to taste is malt, malt and more malt. A slightly sweet finish rounds off this easily forgettable experience. 4.4% ABV is too low, we could pick this beer apart completely but we won’t. Way too home brew, this beer needs some serious work.
