Murrays ‘angry man’ pale ale

Rating:

Murrays angry man pale ale“Murray’s Angry Man Pale Ale is a classic US pale ale. Australian, English and German malts balance the huge citrus/pine hop aroma and flavour strongly influenced by generous use of US Centennial and New Zealand Motueka and Pacifica hops. A brilliant light-golden colour, Murray’s Angry Man Pale Ale has a full-bodied finish and complex character. This is well balanced with biscuity/toffee flavours from selected caramalts.”

Simply put, this beer is a staple. Easily in our top 10 best pale ales. Our hats go off to Murray (who by the way is a very nice bloke) and his right hand man Shaun, who is a top shelf brewer and deserves the recognition for this excellent ale. Served in a shaker glass the cloudy amber orange pour produces a 1 inch white head that eventually settles to a thin cap on top. Ok lacing. Aroma displays a slightly complex mix of citrus (orange, mandarin) from the Southern hemisphere hops (motueka, Pacifica) and spice (clove or nutmeg). We also picked up a subtle yeasty aroma, maybe Peach or banana? In the mouth it’s smooth with medium carbonation and medium body. The palate is quite citric with hints of passion fruit, spice and a touch of honey on the back end. 5% ABV is spot on. So sessional, so tasty and so Murray’s. Could sit on these all night.
