“Galactica, a hop staff wielding heroine, patrols in karate kick mode through the heavens. Dry hopped with Galaxy hops, a clean malt backbone enhances the dank and luscious IPA flavours.”
This beer is a prime example of a top notch American IPA. Served in an IPA glass the appearance shows off a deep hazy amber with a fluffy two and a half finger head that gradually collapses to a thin film of foam on top. OK lacing. Brilliant wet hop-aromatic nose, really floral with loads of resinous pine, grapefruit, peach, candy sugar and passion fruit. Also very well balanced out by the caramel, spice and malty backbone. Great depth. In the mouth it’s full and mildly carbonated with a big fruity palate, which would be due to the use of our very own Australian high-alpha Galaxy hops. An assertive bitterness upfront is followed by grapefruit, passion fruit and lemon that work from the mid palate all the way through to the dry finish. Good length. 8% ABV is spot on, leaving a little sting in the tail which is expected for a DIPA. A good crack at a West Coast-style IPA for these East coast brewers. Excellent brew.
