Breakside ‘Tastes Like Vinyl Sounds’ IPA

Rating:

“Our Flagship Beer. A Distinctive Interpretation of a Northwest Classic. Breakside’s most popular offering is this beautifully clear India Pale Ale featuring the unique character of Citra and Chinook hops.”

Glassware: IPA

Appearance: Bright amber with full clarity. You could literally read a book through the beer. Love it! Nice two and bit finger head which holds up and makes a mess of the glass as we go.

Aroma: Oh my goodness that is pure West Coast IPA! It would almost give Pliny a run for its money. So clean and piney, totally dominated by citrus (grapefruit, lemon/lime, mandarin and orange/rind). As it settles we’re picking up stonefruits like rockmelon, peach and green mango alongside guava and a semi sweet malt structure. Mind blown!

Flavour: She’s got all you could want in a top shelf West Coast IPA – bitter grapefruit, pine, orange peel, white pepper, tangerine and what could pass as pure myrcene aka dank weed and or hop oils. Gets mad pithy mid way which sets up for a tidy finish full of grapefruit, orange peel and herbal spice. The legs on it are incredible too.

Mouthfeel: Zippy, sharp and dry with a hefty 73 IBU. Co2 is spot on. Mild-medium body. 6.2% ABV is intermittent.

Overall: We just want to declare how much we’re loving this resurgence of the filtered, crisp and palate-wrecking West Coast IPA. Especially when they’re this good!
