“A colourful deep Ruby Amber appearance. Aromas of Pine and Grapefruit overlay a malt background. On the palate full bodied malty flavours with a tight and bitter finish.”
We can quite easily say that this pale ale is 4 pines’ most popular, along with being its signature brew. Generously hopped with 4 of the most sought after hops (Simcoe, Citra, Cascade & Amarillo)…You just simply can’t go wrong with that combination. We served this ale in a shaker glass. Our aggressive pour whips up a frothy 2 finger crown that steadily reduced to a firm layer atop a translucent amber body. Good head retention. Lovely tropical fruit aroma emanating here. The fruits standing out are pineapple, passion fruit, mango and grapefruit with a touch of light pine needle running underneath. Great balance too, a solid backing of sweet caramel malt offsets the citrus. Delicate, but very aromatic. In the mouth it’s full with a silky smooth texture. Moderate carbonation. Initiating the flavour profile is a refreshing splash of citrus fruits. Only a very mild bitterness (35 IBU) cuts through as the sweeter malts seem to dominate through the mid. The finish is fruity and slightly dry and does seem to offer a more solid bitterness than the front palate. Although, still very timid. 5.1% ABV. So sessional. Along with the rest of this top shelf breweries core range, this pale ale is very approachable. A perfect entry level craft beer and a perfect summer session beer as well. Nice drop.
