Enjoy this rich, ridiculous and screwball-ish Imperial Stout with hints of: molasses, lactose, chocolate, almond, hazelnut, vanilla bean, cinnamon, oak spiral, chilli, marshmallow, muscovado sugar, chestnut and coffee. Made for Bozos.”

Glassware: Tulip.

Appearance: Black as midnight. It caps off with a pancake head which holds together really well but only manages a patchy lace as we go.

Aroma: Before we say anything we have to commend them on somehow disguising that incredibly high ABV (17.2%). Tonnes of raw cacao powder, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, molasses, vanilla, nutty malts, espresso, salted caramel, peppers and Asian spice. As she warms we start to pick up that marshmallow accent… lovely touch. What an excellent aroma!

Flavour: Holy moly the palate is totally inundated as a tidal wave of bitter dark chocolate, raw cacao, vanilla and residual sugar pounds the taste buds. We can pick up those sweet marshmallow notes coming through. The booze burn through the mid is colossal but we’re quickly diverted on to the bitter espresso, earthy spice and warming chillies instead. It finishes with a slightly harsh bitterness, peat, charred wood and espresso.

Mouthfeel: Dense and viscous. Nicely carbonated with full body. 17.2% ABV. Outrageous!

Overall: We’d say it’s borderline insensible! But that would be our boring selves talking. It’s huge, full of character and really fun. We’ll finish on two words though….be careful!!
