Sweet. We’ve really jumped on the NEIPA bandwagon -though we have Daintonfied it- Rye + Blood OJ. Fruity Hop Fun! Woo!”

Glassware: IPA glass.

Appearance: Cloudy light orange colour which is topped off by a rocky two finger head. It slowly reduced to a film which works a streaky lace drag down the glass.

Aroma: We’re getting some really lovely blood orange notes emanating. They’re ultra fresh, zesty and tangy….just heavenly! Mild hints of orange peel, grapefruit, peppery spice, stonefruit and grassy/herbal hops fill her out beautifully. Not to mention the adjunct notes of mandarin, kumquat and tangerine. Brilliant.

Flavour: There’s an excellent fusion of hallmark NEIPA flavours like apricot, peach, mango and grapefruit that marry up with the tangy and zesty characters of the blood orange. It’s subtle through the mid palate, sticking to its roots with mild bitterness and co2 yet the flavours progress in to a zesty, slightly dry and spicy finish with food length.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, smooth and all-encompassing. Incredibly well hidden ABV (6%). Dangerously sessional!

Overall: We’ve been totally swept up in Dainton’s new re-labelling and their quest to craftify their range. Up until now we hadn’t been that impressed but this blood orange NEIPA has renewed our faith!
