Fox Friday ‘Ivana Hopalot’ Hazy IPA

Rating:

Malt:  Golden Promise, Pale Malt, Flaked Oats, Flaked Wheat & Wheat Malt. Hops:  El Dorado, Citra & Strata  Yeast:  Imperial Barbarian.”

Glassware: IPA

Appearance: Super hazy off yellow. Literally looks like breakfast juice. Tidy one finger head which slowly reduced and leaves excellent lace as it ebbs.

Aroma: The first thing we pick up is a unique fruity sweetness…it almost has a bit of caramelization going on. Definitely packed with the crowd favorites – frosty fruits, juice concentrate, fruit salad, tonnes of mango, pineapple and stonefruit. A nice touch of peppery spice and herbals, resinous, a bit dank as well. Nice and fluffy malt structure. Could be on to a winner here.

Flavour: Got a bit of bite upfront that tapers off and allows the massive fruit salad, frosty fruits and brekky juice/concentrate to do its thing. Grapefruit and mixed citrus through the mid moving in to a somewhat herbal/spicy finish with lingering citrus and pepper on the back.

Mouthfeel: Well weighted, creamy and fluffy. Finely carbonated with the 7.2% ABV on point.

Overall: This is our first crack at Fox Friday and we must admit we’re pretty pleased. It doesn’t have the scope of say Range, Mr Banks or Mountain Culture but it’s certainly worthy of a crack. NB: We bought these straight from the brewery as they’re practically rare as hens teeth outside of Tassie.
