Firestone walker brewery ‘double jack’ double IPA

Rating:

image“A dangerously drinkable Double IPA.  Double Jack opens up with bright grapefruit and tangerine American hop aromas. Beautifully crafted undertones of stone fruit are revealed upon first sip, followed by the essence of blue basil and pine. A sturdy pale and crystal malt backbone brings balance to high hop intensity. Complex and aggressively hopped, and flawlessly balanced.”

This drop is from California and according to rate beer.com is a 100/100! Needless to say we are very excited. This is an imperial IPA that has been triple dry hopped. On the nose we get candy floss, lots of malt, grapefruit and  lemon. The pour is amazing..crystal gold like colour. Small head here also but there is solid film on the glass as we drink. Mouthfeel is almost chewy in nature; it’s solid and full bodied. There is decent carbonation. The bitterness on the palate is huge..puckering to say the least. Solid booze hit and malt going on here. We assume it’s to take some of the booze out of the equation as it’s 9.5%. We have had other imperial IPAs and this is right up there in terms of perfection. Can get tropical fruit also, and some pine which we love in beer. This is an absolute cracker of an IPA. Half way through and we are buzzing from it. We recommend one of these at a time as you would get extremely pissed with another one. If you see one of these, buy immediately. Well done west coast USA.
